Account Executive II (Onsite - 5 days per week)

Overview

A successful Technical Account Executive II drives B2B client growth, technological adoption, and satisfaction within the Weedmaps dual-sided marketplace. The Account Executive will be measured on their success in driving revenue through technical solution-selling (including APIs, Point of Sale integrations, and logistics software), heading off and minimizing churn through product stickiness, and driving billing collection efforts. The Account Executive leads the complex sales growth and Ad Tech revenue generation strategy for their assigned book, in partnership with their Account Manager(s).

The impact you'll make

  • Pipeline & Quota Management: Manage a technical book of business where recurring revenue (ARR/MRR) and Net Revenue Retention (NRR) goals are met and exceeded.
  • Technical Discovery: Conduct deep-dive qualification calls to understand the client's current tech stack, compliance hurdles, and inventory management pain points.
  • Solution Pitching: Introduce and pitch the full WM Business suite by demonstrating how API integrations, automated compliance guardrails, and logistics tech solve specific operational bottlenecks.
  • Integration Consulting: Act as the bridge between Weedmaps' technical capabilities and non-technical dispensary owners, specifically explaining the value of live PoS syncs to eliminate manual data entry and consumer cancellations.
  • Account Expansion: Collaborate with assigned Account Manager(s) to identify and close upsell opportunities, driving deeper product adoption to ensure the Weedmaps suite becomes the client's core infrastructure.
  • Marketplace Strategy: Educate B2B clients on dual-sided marketplace dynamics, using data to prove Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) and long-term Customer Lifetime Value (LTV) generated by Weedmaps' consumer traffic.
  • Cross-Functional Advocacy: Serve as a technical product advocate by actively gathering quantitative and qualitative feedback from clients and sharing it directly with Product and Engineering teams to shape the roadmap.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and predict churn risks early by monitoring technical utilization and adoption metrics, partnering with AM(s) to build mitigation plans.
  • Data Hygiene: Act as the steward of client data hygiene by maintaining rigorous CRM (Salesforce) records regarding integration status, tech stack updates, meeting notes, state compliance license validity, and billing payments.

What you've accomplished

  • Education: BS / BA Degree or equivalent proven experience in technical sales.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Ad Tech sales, account management, or technical platform sales in a client-facing role.
  • Technical Aptitude: High-level understanding of APIs, data syncing, cloud-based architecture, and how software systems integrate (e.g., PoS to online marketplace).
  • Analytical Approach: Data-oriented sales approach with the ability to confidently present metrics like ROI, CAC, and LTV using business intelligence tools.
  • Consultative Selling: Customer-centric relationship builder capable of translating complex technical features into tangible business outcomes for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Pacing & Organization: Comfort operating at an accelerated, iterative pace with strong planning skills, strict attention to detail, and process orientation.
  • Preferred Software: Proficiency in Salesforce, Tableau (or similar BI tools), and standard sales engagement platforms.
  • Preferred Industry Knowledge: Experience in the cannabis industry, particularly familiarity with state compliance infrastructure (e.g., Metrc, seed-to-sale tracking).
