Packaging Technician

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25-$30/hour, commensurate with experience.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prioritize orders by due date and means of delivery
• Verify the accuracy of each order before it is packaged including: measurements, piece counts, and material type and grade
• Adequately package each order for material fragility and means of transportation using a variety of packaging materials and techniques
• Assemble skids and utilize power tools to cut end caps and other packaging components
• Weigh and measure packages in a variety of sizes and shapes
• Operate and drive forklift
• Load material onto pallets, skids, trucks, and customer vehicles
• Maintain organization of packaging department
• Follow company safety guidelines, processes, and procedures

Position Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience
• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 75lbs. occasionally
• Ability to maneuver and manipulate metal materials by bending, twisting, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, and use of upper and lower extremities and back
• Ability to multi-task, be attentive, and flexible
• Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of supervisor
• Strong understanding of measuring devices such as calipers, tape measures, and scales

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are desired, though not required to adequately meet the objectives of the position.

• Aptitude in industrial machinery and equipment
• Experience in metals and/or hardware industry
• Forklift experience
