Avōq is seeking an exceptionally talented researcher / analyst / manager to join our award-winning Insights team. Armed with an AI-powered suite of advanced research & analytics tools, technology, and methodologies, the Insights team is our engine for industry-leading innovation and actionable research that informs data-driven, best-in-class strategies for our clients.

WHO YOU ARE

The Manager will play a critical role in driving the Insights team’s performance and success, wearing several different hats, including:

  • Team Leader – You have strong team and project management abilities that enable you to cultivate the talent and skills of team members, establish best practices and processes that create consistency in high quality research products, and ensure the team’s pipeline of projects are efficiently scoped and effectively delivered.
  • Subject Matter Expert – You will be looked to as a preeminent research expert within the insights team center of excellence, across the company, and by the firm’s largest clients, serving as a critical resource in devising research methodologies, scoping projects and distributing assignments, and presenting findings and actionable recommendations to account teams and clients.
  • Data Strategist – You will be able to uncover and translate key research findings to help account teams and clients achieve a wide array of reputation, business, and policy strategic objectives across a diverse range of sectors and situations. You will possess experience or rapidly learn how insights supports specific tactics, such as media relations, paid advertising, stakeholder engagement, content strategy, message development, rapid response, and more.
  • Research Maven – You possess a deep background in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and be willing to rapidly learn the ins and outs of Avoq’s approaches and solutions, as well as Avoq’s suite of data, research and analytics solutions. Ideally, you will have experience with some of these research/analytics tools but must have an interest in and aptitude for building a skillset in areas like social listening, media intelligence, legislative and policy tracking, and audience + market research
  • Storyteller – Data needs to tell a story. You must have a natural curiosity about the world, cause and effect events, and uncovering “the why” behind the data. You will collaborate with colleagues to synthesize your findings into compelling actionable recommendations, strategies, and presentations and be able to confidently articulate these stories to internal and external audiences.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Leverage research and data-driven findings to make connections and deliver insights relevant to strategic assignments.
  • Uncover and Develop key takeaways, implications for brands, and actionable recommendations
  • You are comfortable designing and explaining research methodologies and presenting insights to clients
  • You take ownership of projects through the course of their lifecycle, outline action plans and processes, and provide oversight to junior team members.
  • Across your various responsibilities you demonstrate initiative, rigor, dedication, thoughtfulness, organization, creativity, and innovation to improve processes, work product, and client impact/outcomes
  • Help build a vision for the future of our team, how insight is shaping our industry, and have a voice in shaping the direction/future of the team

Requirements

YOUR EXPERIENCE

As a qualified candidate, you have 5+ years of work experience in all areas below:

  • Quickly analyze complex client situations to understand trends and nuanced situations involving facets of news media, social media, advertising, policy, and communications
  • Communicate professionally — this role will include significant, extensive, and high-profile interfacing with internal teams and clients and explaining data/research/analytics in a clear and persuasive way
  • Work independently on projects and share findings with colleagues
  • Juggle multiple projects and deliver high-quality content under tight deadlines
  • Manage and provide direction and feedback to junior members of the team on client engagements
  • Distill critical data into research-driven narratives
  • Possess strong time-management, collaboration and delegation skills and meet simultaneous deadlines and manage multiple projects at once
  • Bring creativity and new ideas to the table

As an exceptional candidate, you possess many of the following attributes:

  • Relevant experience, education, or interest in data-driven research, advertising, journalism, communications, media or language background
  • Experience and comfort conducting research using digital/social media analytics tools, and diverse data sets, including demographic, political, economic and public policy
  • Understanding of digital advertising, including how campaigns are developed, executed, and measured, as well as trends involving advertisers, publishers, and platforms
  • Passionate and curious about policy, media, and business issues
  • Prior experience working with public affairs firms, research or media planning agencies, creative advertising agencies, public policy organizations, political campaigns, government or communication agencies
  • Excellent writing, editing, research, and presentation skills
  • Superior organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Previous responsibility for and leadership of direct reports and team-oriented development
  • A proven track record of successfully completing multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (ex: pivot tables, nested formulas, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of media analytics tools, such as Brandwatch, Meltwater, Newswhip, SEMRush, Google Data Studio among others.
  • Experience effectively leveraging emerging AI tools and technologies to drive greater workflow efficiencies and stronger, more impactful insights & impacts

The salary range for this role is $85,000 - 130,000 per year
