Junior Accountant, Public Accounting

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support tax preparation, bookkeeping, and client accounting functions within a public accounting environment.
This role is ideal for someone who wants hands-on experience with client accounting, tax support, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping across multiple accounts. You will work closely with senior accounting staff while helping maintain accurate financial records, support tax season workflows, and provide responsive client service.
This is an execution-focused role with strong growth potential for someone looking to develop within public accounting and gain deeper exposure to tax preparation and client accounting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize financial records, reconciliations, and supporting tax documentation
- Assist with preparation of individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns
- Maintain client bookkeeping and accounting records using QuickBooks
- Support month-end and year-end close processes across multiple client accounts
- Input, review, and reconcile financial data accurately and efficiently
- Communicate with clients regarding missing documentation and routine accounting requests
- Assist senior accountants with tax review preparation and compliance support
- Maintain organized digital files and accounting records within firm systems
- Support internal administrative, accounting, and tax workflow processes as needed
- Help ensure smooth client service and timely completion of accounting deliverables
Requirements
- 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or tax support experience preferred
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software required
- Exposure to public accounting or tax preparation environments preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, especially during busy tax periods
- Experience with UltraTax, Drake, Canopy, or similar tax/accounting platforms is a plus
- Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with clients and internal team members
- Candidates seeking fully remote-only roles without collaboration availability may not be a fit
