Network Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Network Engineer – Manufacturing & Wireless Infrastructure for a W2 contract position in Winston Salem, NC.
Pay Range: $40.00 to $45.00 per hour on W2; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Network Engineer job responsibilities include
- Support deployment and optimization of enterprise and manufacturing Wi-Fi environments using Cisco Catalyst Wireless platforms
- Assist with implementation of wireless access points (Wi-Fi 6/6E/7) in enterprise and high-density environments
- Troubleshoot wireless connectivity issues including roaming, onboarding, and coverage gaps
- Support Layer 2 network operations including switch provisioning, stacking, patching (fiber/copper), and hardware refresh activities
- Assist with Layer 3 support across enterprise environments (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP)
- Execute network device refresh tasks including installation and configuration of switches and infrastructure components
- Utilize Cisco Catalyst Center for device provisioning, basic troubleshooting, and inventory management
- Assist in maintaining network documentation and configuration standards
- Work with project teams and site personnel to support deployments and maintenance activities
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of network engineering experience in enterprise environment, with a focus on implementation and troubleshooting.
- CCNA certification preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience in enterprise networking environments.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).
- Experience deploying and supporting Cisco wireless environments, with a strong understanding of Wi‑Fi concepts including coverage, onboarding, roaming, and interference.
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst switches and LAN switching, including VLANs, trunking, basic switch configuration, and hands-on cabling, patching, and hardware installations.
- Basic understanding of routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP, with the ability to support and troubleshoot Layer 3 connectivity under guidance.
- Exposure to Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center) or similar network management and automation tools.
- Experience supporting network deployments, upgrades, and refresh projects, with the ability to follow implementation plans and work within change control processes.
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience in manufacturing or plant environments
- Exposure to wireless surveys or AP placement validation
- Familiarity with network cleanup tasks (VLANs, ACLs)
- Basic exposure to voice platforms (CUCM, CER, Unity)
