About the Role
We’re seeking a talented Quality Assurance Manager to join our Quality & Compliance Team. In this role, you’ll lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Curio’s nuclear Quality Assurance program in accordance with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, and applicable regulatory requirements. What You’ll Do
- Establish, implement, and maintain a comprehensive nuclear Quality Assurance program compliant with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, and applicable DOE and NRC requirements.
- Serve as the primary QA authority for the organization, providing oversight and guidance to all departments on quality-related matters.
- Plan, schedule, and lead internal and external quality audits and surveillances; serve as Lead Auditor on complex technical audits.
- Develop, review, and approve QA procedures, plans, and program documentation including the Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD).
- Manage the Corrective Action Program (CAP), ensuring timely identification, documentation, evaluation, and resolution of nonconformances and conditions adverse to quality.
- Oversee supplier qualification and procurement document review to ensure supply chain quality compliance.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for significant quality events and conditions adverse to quality.
- Interface with the NRC, DOE, and other regulatory bodies on QA-related matters; support license applications and inspections.
- Develop and deliver QA training programs to build quality awareness and competency across the organization.
- Support project teams during design, procurement, construction, and operations phases to integrate quality requirements.
- Monitor and report on QA program performance metrics to senior leadership and the Board as required.
- Build and mentor the QA team, fostering a culture of compliance, continuous improvement, and nuclear safety.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline required.
- Preferred Education: Master’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in nuclear quality assurance, with demonstrated experience managing or directing a nuclear QA program.
- Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Lead Auditor certification per NQA-1 or equivalent (e.g., ASQ CQA, CQE); active certification strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1-2017, and applicable NRC and DOE regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and improving nuclear QA programs from the ground up or in early-stage nuclear technology companies.
- Proven track record conducting and leading complex technical audits, surveillances, and supplier assessments.
- Experience managing Corrective Action Programs (CAP) and performing or overseeing root cause analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to interact effectively with regulatory agencies, executive leadership, and technical staff.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Proficiency with QA document management systems and quality management software.
- Nice-to-Haves: Experience with advanced nuclear fuel cycle technologies, small modular reactors (SMRs), or nuclear recycling/reprocessing programs; familiarity with IAEA safeguards requirements; experience supporting NRC license applications or DOE project authorization processes.
Salary Range
- $145,000-195,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
