Job Summary
The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing Albany State University¿s digital presence across web, social media, and multimedia platforms. This position supports the university¿s strategic marketing and communication goals by creating engaging digital content, enhancing user experience, and increasing audience engagement. The specialist collaborates with campus stakeholders to ensure consistent branding, messaging, and digital innovation.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the university¿s digital platforms, including website content, social media channels, and multimedia assets.
- Create and publish engaging digital content, including graphics, videos, photography, and written copy to support marketing campaigns and institutional initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze digital performance metrics (e.g., website traffic, social media engagement) and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to develop and implement digital communication strategies.
- Ensure all digital content aligns with Albany State University branding standards, accessibility requirements, and best practices.
- Support website updates and enhancements using the institution¿s content management system (CMS).
- Assist in planning and executing digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing and social media promotions.
- Stay current with emerging digital media trends, tools, and technologies to enhance the university¿s online presence.
- Provide guidance and training to campus partners on effective digital communication practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Office of Marketing and Communications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor¿s degree in Digital Media/ Digital Communications, Marketing or Digital Marketing, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or closely related field.
- Two (2) or three (3) years
- Strong understanding of digital media platforms and trends.
- Creative thinking with the ability to produce visually compelling and engaging content.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse campus stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a digital-specific discipline (Digital Media, Digital Marketing, Multimedia Communications)
- Experience working in higher education or a similar institutional environment.
Proposed Salary
Salary commensurate with education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Proficiency with content management systems (e.g., Drupal, WordPress) and social media management tools.
- Experience with digital analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics or similar platforms).
- Working knowledge of graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools).
- Familiarity with SEO, digital accessibility standards (ADA compliance), and web best practices.
