The ND Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Healthcare Facility (HCF) Plans Reviewer for the Public Health - Life Safety and Construction Unit. This position will provide an opportunity to work and travel throughout North Dakota.
As the HCF Plans Reviewer, you will review construction plans and/or specifications and perform on-site inspections of health care facilities to determine compliance with applicable fire code and construction standards.
Each day, you will review plans and specifications, inspect buildings, interview facility staff, review records and document compliance deficiencies. In addition, you will prepare reports and information to facilities and work with owners, architects, engineers and contractors to develop plans of corrective action.
Location
This position will provide an opportunity to work and travel throughout North Dakota. When engaged in inspection work, employees may work four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, and have weekends and holidays off. Inspectors travel approximately 20 percent of the time. Travel may require consecutive nights away from home. A state car is provided for travel.

Minimum Qualifications
You must have a degree in engineering, architecture, architectural drafting, construction management or a closely related degree. Four years of construction-related work experience to include training in building systems or fire code compliance in commercial, government or private facilities.
Preference will be given to individuals with a license and/or registration in architecture or engineering fields plus knowledge and experience in the application of fire codes, in particular the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills are necessary. Individuals must have a valid driver's license.
