Title: Fuel Device Safety Inspector – South Jackson County

Salary: $46,446.00

Job Location: Applicants must reside in either

Bates, Cass,

Jackson or Vernon County or be willing to relocate. Applicants residing in surrounding counties will be considered on a case-by-case basis .

The salary indicated represents the current regular pay rate for this position. If the individual selected is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., Years of Service), it will be added to total compensation on their paycheck. A pay differential does not raise base pay.

The Weights, Measures & Consumer Protection Division is responsible for ensuring equity in the marketplace. From the amount of gasoline we purchase to any commodity sold by weight, measure or liquid volume, our division is there to make the playing field level for both the buyer and seller. Fire and accident prevention is critical in areas where fuel is being handled and dispensed.

  • Ensure all retail motor fuel devices in the inspection territory are tested for accuracy and inspected for safety every six months
  • Inspect all facilities for code compliance as prescribed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 30 and 30A, NIST Handbook 44 and Missouri Code of State Regulations
  • Submit all official documentation required for all job functions to the office accurately and in a timely manner
  • Represent the department in a professional manner at all times
  • Service, maintain and keep all test equipment clean including the state assigned vehicle
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Valid MO Driver's License
  • Ability to travel extensively in the performance of duties, including occasional overnight stays
  • Ability to work outdoors and in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to work in potentially hazardous environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical experience in the petroleum industry relating to the installation and repair of fuel storage, utilization and dispensing systems (i.e., pipeline and barge terminals, gasoline delivery truck meters, gasoline pumps, atmospheric and pressure vessel fuel storage tanks and petroleum piping systems, etc.
