The Opportunity

This is a ground-floor opportunity to build and own the membership growth function at Akido and help redefine value-based care in Southern California. Reporting directly to the Head of Market Transformation, this role carries real organizational weight — you are not inheriting a playbook, you are writing it. The Director will operate with high autonomy across broker strategy, health plan partnerships, and community outreach, with direct visibility into payer contracting, capitation, and clinical performance. For the right candidate, this is a rare opportunity to own a growth function from the ground up, with executive sponsorship and the infrastructure to back it up.

What you’ll do

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of broker and FMO relationships, serving as their primary point of contact for enrollment support, education, and co-marketing
  • Coordinate with health plan partner liaisons (SCAN, Alignment, etc.) on growth initiatives, directory accuracy, and IPA visibility
  • Identify and onboard net-new broker relationships with demonstrated Medicare Advantage book of business in target geographies
  • Build and maintain community referral pipelines through senior centers, CBOs, faith organizations, pharmacies, and ancillary providers
  • Own and update the growth dashboard — tracking membership trends, broker attribution, geo-penetration, and churn on a regular cadence
  • Surface provider-side issues identified through broker and plan relationships and facilitate resolution through MSO operational and clinical teams
  • Identify and recruit prospective providers to join the network, coordinating with operations to support onboarding and credentialing
  • Represent Akido at broker events, community health fairs, enrollment events, and culturally-targeted outreach programs across SoCal
  • Collaborate with quality and clinical teams to translate Stars and HEDIS performance into broker- and community-facing value narratives
  • Support payer contracting leadership with market intelligence, competitive analysis, and enrollment projections
  • Present monthly growth performance to senior leadership with variance analysis and forward-looking recommendations

Who you are

  • 7+ years in healthcare business development, IPA/MSO growth, health plan sales, or broker relations (preferred)
  • 3+ years in a director or senior manager capacity (preferred)
  • Deep familiarity with the Southern California Medicare Advantage landscape (preferred)
  • Established relationships with SoCal brokers, FMOs, or health plan partner teams (preferred)
  • Fluency in MA mechanics — product structures, broker compensation, CMS enrollment rules, and network adequacy standards (preferred)
  • Proven track record building and managing a business development pipeline with measurable enrollment outcomes
  • Ability to build and own growth pipeline models and enrollment forecasts
  • Comfortable working across MSO, medical group, finance, and payer contracting teams
  • Experience with CRM tools, enrollment reporting, or health plan portals
  • Executive-level communicator — effective in broker offices, community settings, and board rooms
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred; additional SoCal community languages a plus
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or MHA preferred

Benefits

  • Health benefits include medical, dental and vision
  • 401K
  • Long-term disability
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Life insurance
  • Paid Leave Program

Salary range: $140,000 USD - $160,000 USD
