Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in demand planning, forecasting, transition planning, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), or Integrated Business Planning (IBP).
  • Experience with SQL.

Preferred qualifications

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with automated workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Cron) and scripting languages for data manipulation.
  • Experience in a hyperscale cloud, telecom, or large-scale infrastructure environment managing high-value spend portfolios ($100M+).
  • Knowledge of networking infrastructure languages.

You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Reducing the cycle time of networking services for Google’s production network is an important strategy for the Google Global Networking organization. One of the key functions to enable faster deployment is the ability to forecast and pre-position materials. The Material Demand Forecasting team manages a portfolio of programs which advance the organization toward faster delivery of networking services as measured by reducing cycle times, more efficient use of working capital, and improvements in operational efficiency.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $237000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

  • Manage the day-to-day operational and process improvement activities for material demand planning.
  • Generate a monthly forecast of the materials needed to support the procurement of all networking equipment across the organization as well as build new cross-functional processes to expand the material demand planning pipeline across new areas.
  • Work closely with Network Operations Supply Chain (NOSC), NIE (Network Space and Power team), and Technical Infrastructure Finance to support fulfillment against the forecast as well as root cause analysis for variances against metrics to define and implement improvement programs.
  • Work closely with Network Designers, Network Engineers, NetOps Supply Chain (NOSC), TI Finance to manage NPI transitions, support budgeting and procurement as well as risk management.
  • Partner with network engineering and field deploy teams to increase efficiencies from within the organization.
