About The Organization

Liberty Dogs is a premier Service Dog training program whose goal is to empower Veterans with disabilities to lead more independent and fulfilling lives - enhancing their well-being through the unconditional support that Liberty Service Dogs provide. Located on a 27-acre campus, it includes a training facility, dog housing, an administrative and multipurpose building, and accommodations for Veterans staying on campus to train with their Liberty Service Dogs.

Position Summary

Liberty Dogs is seeking a passionate, relationship-driven Director of Community Outreach to lead community engagement efforts that increase awareness, strengthen local partnerships, expand volunteer involvement, and advance our mission of pairing highly trained Service Dogs with Veterans.

This individual will serve as a key ambassador for Liberty Dogs throughout the community and help cultivate meaningful relationships with businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, Veteran organizations, schools, and community leaders.

The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator and highly organized relationship-builder who thrives in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment and is passionate about serving Veterans and strengthening communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute a comprehensive community outreach strategy aligned with Liberty Dogs’ mission and organizational goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, corporate partners, Veteran groups, educational institutions, and local leaders.
  • Represent Liberty Dogs at community events, networking functions, speaking engagements, and outreach opportunities.
  • Identify and cultivate local partnership opportunities that support volunteer engagement, awareness, and mission expansion.
  • Coordinate outreach initiatives, tours, community presentations, and engagement events.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to promote outreach activities and community impact stories.
  • Support recruitment efforts, including Puppy Raisers, volunteers, and attendees for Veteran Warrior Wellness courses.
  • Track outreach metrics, partnership activity, and community engagement outcomes.
  • Work closely with internal departments to ensure alignment between outreach initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Serve as a mission ambassador by effectively communicating Liberty Dogs’ programs, impact, and future vision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, nonprofit management, marketing, business, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in community outreach, partnerships, nonprofit engagement, or related roles.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating events, partnerships, or community initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for supporting Veterans and advancing mission-driven work.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and outreach activities.

Preferred Qualities

  • Strong knowledge of the Northern Nevada community and regional partnerships.
  • Experience working in nonprofit, Veteran-focused, or community engagement environments.
  • Comfortable speaking publicly and representing the organization in professional settings.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Able to operate standard office equipment
  • Professional office environment, with dogs, dog dander and animal hair
  • This is a full-time, onsite, position that requires flexibility. A typical work week will be 40 hours and may include weekends and evenings. Required attendance at events and/or emergencies may require longer hours or evening work.
