Job Definition
The High School Assistant Principal assumes a pivotal role in the instructional leadership and operational efficiency of the school, collaborating closely with the principal to ensure the academic success and emotional well-being of all students.
The High School Assistant Principal oversees educational programs, curriculum development, and instructional strategies, fostering a dynamic learning environment that promotes student engagement and achievement. Student management and supervision are central to their responsibilities, as the High School Assistant Principal enforces school policies and provides support to address individual student needs and challenges.
The High School Assistant Principal serves as a key liaison between the school and parents, facilitating open communication and meaningful engagement to support student learning and development and also cultivates positive relationships with staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture that encourages professional growth and excellence. Through effective leadership and strategic planning, the Assistant Principal drives positive outcomes for students and staff alike, contributing to the overall success and reputation of the school within the community.
Essential Job Functions
- Support strategic initiatives to create a positive and inclusive school culture.
- Ensure academic success and emotional well-being of all students.
- Support all facets of educational programs, curriculum development, and program evaluation.
- Manage personnel, including licensed and classified staff.
- Coordinate emergency procedures, resource scheduling, and facilities operation.
- Cultivate an equity-centered approach in program development for dynamic learning environments.
- Demonstrate expertise in educational programs, curriculum, pedagogy, and culturally-sustaining instructional strategies.
- Utilize asset-based student management approaches and promote professional development.
- Coordinate emergency procedures, resource scheduling, and facilities operation.
- Plan and implement strategies for teaching and learning, including differentiation.
- Engage in decision-making processes for school success.
- Assist in the development of the school’s master schedule for instructional programs to ensure comprehensive offerings for all students.
- Ensure instruction creates learning tasks engaging all learners in processes requiring various levels of analytical and critical thinking.
- Support student-centered learning outcomes.
- Use data to guide decision-making for student needs, growth, goal development, and intervention systems.
- Develop a welcoming and safe facility, collaborating with partners to identify and remedy needs.
- Work with district-level staff to identify needs and allocate resources for support.
- Establish procedures for conflict resolution involving a variety of potential audiences.
- Oversee the providing of required reporting.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- Principal licensure or certification
- Demonstrated commitment to developing a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging for staff, students, and families
- Demonstrated success developing and delivering high-quality instruction
Preferred Qualifications
- School leadership experience
- Bilingual in Spanish and English languages
