Job Summary

The Director of Aftercare at St. Gerard Majella Catholic School oversees the daily operations of the after-school care program, ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging environment for students. This role provides leadership to staff, supports student development, and ensures that all activities reflect the school’s mission and Catholic values.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the aftercare program, including staff and student activities
  • Develop and implement structured schedules and age-appropriate programming
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and supervision of all students
  • Hire, train, and support aftercare staff and aides as needed
  • Maintain clear communication with parents, staff, and school administration
  • Enforce school policies and procedures while promoting positive behavior
  • Oversee student check-in/check-out procedures and maintain accurate records
  • Manage supplies, materials, and program organization
  • Address behavioral or safety concerns in a timely and professional manner

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred
  • Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting required
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and problem-solve effectively
  • Dependable, professional, and able to lead a team
  • Knowledge of basic safety procedures and child supervision practices
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and Catholic values of the school
