Job Summary
The Extended Care Aide at St. Gerard Majella Catholic School provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for students before and after school hours. This role supports students’ social development, ensures supervision and safety, and promotes positive behavior while reflecting the school’s Catholic values.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise students during before- and after-school care in a safe and organized setting
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, including games, homework time, and quiet activities
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students
- Monitor student behavior and address issues in accordance with school policies
- Assist students with homework and provide academic support when needed
- Ensure proper check-in/check-out procedures and student accountability
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the extended care space
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with children in a school, daycare, or similar setting preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise and engage groups of children effectively
- Dependable, responsible, and flexible
- Basic organizational and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment
- Willingness to support and uphold Catholic values and school expectations
