The Indiana Minority Health Coalition, Inc. (IMHC) is now accepting applications for employment for the Community Doula position. The central role of the Community Doula is to work with pregnant and parenting women and their babies, to promote healthy pregnancies, breastfeeding and parent-infant attachment. Other responsibilities include birthing support as well as education. The Community Doula will support participants with education on best practices for the childbearing year, and bridge the gap between communities and the health and social service systems. This is a full-time position with benefits including health and dental insurance, professional development, vacation, personal, sick leave and optional supplemental insurance. The incumbent must have a High School Diploma/Equivalent, current inoculations, and the ability to be on-call. A minimum of 2 years work experience as a Childbirth Educator, Doula, Community Health Worker, CPR Certification and/or transferable medical training or medical certification preferred but not required. S/he must have outstanding interpersonal, communication, charting/data entry, analytical and reporting skills, and have knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point). Some travel required. This position is for the South Bend/Elkhart, Indiana area. This position is grant funded for a year with the possibility of extension.
