The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is recruiting a Staff Research Associate 2 to join the George Lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. The George Lab investigates how sex-linked biology impacts immune responses in both health and disease. We integrate systems immunology with high-parameter single-cell approaches to better understand why immune programs differ between sexes and how these differences affect disease susceptibility, progression, and treatment outcomes. This position will process, bank, and maintain human blood and tissue specimens. A significant focus of this research is on female-specific biology, particularly in mucosal tissues, an area that remains understudied.

This position will be tasked with designing and conducting experiments (including those at biosafety levels 1, 2, and 2+), analyzing data, and presenting findings to the PI and during lab meeting. Additionally, this role involves supporting the daily management of the lab and offers opportunities to develop mentoring and management skills. The Staff Research Associate 2 will handle, store, and dispose of hazardous biological and chemical materials in accordance with institutional and safety guidelines. This includes training students in experimental procedures and lab operations, as well as developing standard operation procedures (SOPs) with the PI.
