Dish Porter
Aureate Development
Position Summary
The Dish Porter is a cross-functional support role that keeps the cafe, deli, hot line, and prep-production areas running — ensuring a constant supply of clean, sanitized dishware, small wares, and equipment, maintaining a clean and sanitary back-of-house, and providing prep support to the kitchen and production team as needed. This is a critical support role across all departments. The ideal candidate is dependable, fast, takes pride in cleanliness, is willing to cross-train across stations, and thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Dishwashing: Wash, sanitize, and dry dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, small wares, and production equipment by hand and using commercial dish machines.
- Stocking: Keep clean items organized and stocked at the cafe, deli, hot-line, and prep stations so the team never runs short during service.
- Equipment: Operate and clean the dish machine; monitor water temperature and sanitizer levels and report any malfunctions to management.
- Waste: Empty trash and recycling, break down boxes, and remove waste to designated areas; clean and sanitize trash receptacles.
- Sanitation: Sweep and mop floors, wipe down surfaces, and help maintain overall back-of-house cleanliness and sanitation.
- Prep & Cross-Functional Support: Assist prep cooks and the production team with basic prep tasks — washing, peeling, and chopping produce; portioning; packaging and labeling; and stocking stations. Flex into prep and production work as dish volume, coverage, and daily demand allow, and put away deliveries as directed by kitchen management.
- Compliance: Strictly adhere to all local health department and food safety guidelines, including proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
