Position Overview

The English Language Acquisition and Development (ELAD) Teacher is responsible for delivering high quality, evidence based instruction and bridge content learning with language development. The ELAD Teacher will ensure English Learners meet academic objectives while simultaneously acquiring English proficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Use WIDA ELD data to implement standards-based ELD (English Language Development) instruction for students in grades K-6, including tailored lessons that integrate content with language proficiency. Create and implement daily lessons for a 7th and 8th-grade intervention period.
  • Complete required test administration certifications and administer WIDA Screener and annual WIDA ACCESS tests.
  • Create a supportive, inclusive, and culturally sensitive learning environment that encourages high-quality learning.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, EL paraprofessionals, the EL Director, and administrators to ensure consistency in instructional strategies across grade levels.
  • Maintain compliance with Nevada State Board regulations regarding EL students and participate in ongoing professional development.

Required Qualifications That Set You Up For Success

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid Nevada Teaching License (Elementary, Middle School, Secondary, or Special Education).
  • English Language Acquisition and Development (ELAD Endorsement)
  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Up For Success

  • Demonstrated experience with ELL students and knowledge of TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) methods.
  • Proficiency in designing language-focused lesson plans.
  • Knowledge of the 2020 WIDA ELD Standards Framework.
  • Classroom management and engagement strategies.

Physical And Travel Requirements / Work Environment

  • Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
