Staff Accountant

Medieval Times is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team. The Job is based out of our corporate office in Irving, TX.
Position Overview
As one of several corporate Staff Accountants you will be primarily responsible for generating monthly financial statements for your assigned group companies. You will work closely with your peers and with supporting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams. You will liaise with department managers and offsite castle management to finalize and present monthly income statements to the Accounting Manager for consolidation. You must have good communication and analytical skills, be self-motivated and have the ability to develop a broad, cross-departmental understanding of a fun organization.
Primary Functions And Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the general ledger including intercompany charges.
- Prepare monthly fluctuation analysis and brief commentary on material income statement variances versus budget.
- Update monthly reconciliations on all assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare assigned audit schedules; assist with prompt completion of all external audits.
- Update all applicable capital expenditure to FAS system & track depreciation charges.
- Complete various monthly tax forms, business filings, sales tax filings and payments.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including business analysis and reporting as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
- Must have strong understanding of accounting principles and US GAAP.
- Understanding of the application of multi-state sales and use tax desired.
- Intermediate level Microsoft Excel user preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and FAS is a plus.
- Experience in the entertainment, hospitality or retail industries is a plus.
