Smith & Company Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Port St. Lucie, Florida. This is an in-office position and an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator looking to work with a respected heavy civil and utility contractor.

The ideal candidate will have strong estimating experience, the ability to analyze plans and specifications, and a solid understanding of construction means, methods, and costs. Experience in civil construction, underground utilities, site development, asphalt, or roadway projects is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Develop labor, equipment, and material pricing.
• Identify project risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Assist in preparing competitive bid proposals and schedules.
• Maintain and update historical cost databases and unit pricing.
• Coordinate with operations staff during project handoff after award.
• Support project managers and field teams with estimating-related information.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction estimating experience.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, and production rates.
• Experience with HeavyBid, HCSS, Bluebeam, or similar estimating software preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
