Underfill Option
The goal of this recruitment is to fill the position at the Park Manager 2 level; however, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for Park Manager 1 ($5,371 - $8,299), to apply. We will consider underfilling the position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for the Park Manager 2 classification. Underfill training will not extend beyond three years.
Your New Role
As a Permanent, full-time, Park Manager 2, you will provide leadership, management oversight, and supervision of staff for the full range of park operational and program activities in the Columbia District; a geographic district in proximity to the Columbia River and city of Portland composed of five complex state park management units as part of helping the department achieve its overarching mission and vision.

Minimum Qualifications: Park Manager 2
- Four years of experience as a Park Manager or equivalent natural resource manager; - OR -
- A Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field and 1 year of experience as a Park Manager or equivalent natural resource manager.
Minimum qualifications: Park Manager 1 (Underfill)
- Two years of lead work experience in park operations and maintenance.- OR -
- An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies and 6 months of lead work experience in park operations and maintenance.
NOTE: A higher-level degree may substitute for the Associate's degree. There is no substitute for the 6 months experience.
Special Requirements
- To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.
- Living in on-site park housing is a requirement for this position.

- Skill in managing fleet, equipment and medium to large park maintenance and operation projects, including complex natural resource issues involving conservation, restoration or management.

- Skill in preparing moderately sized biennial management unit budget and operating within budgetary limits.
- Skill in caring for and managing historic and cultural resources, or properties that have cultural significance to local Native American tribes, along interpreting significance to park visitors.
