Senior Director of Advancement

The Senior Director of Advancement is directly responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of La Salle High School’s enrollment, resource development, community relations and external communications operations as well as coordinating and working directly with the La Salle Foundation to grow the Endowment. Together with the Director of Admissions, the Director of Development and other support staff, the Senior Director of Advancement works to integrate the vision and mission of the De La Salle Christian Brothers into the school’s public image as the community becomes aware of La Salle High School’s goals, programs and needs. The Senior Director of Advancement reports to the President and oversees the Director of Admissions and Director of Development along with any part-time or other volunteer support roles in these departments. The Senior Director of Advancement, with the school President, coordinates closely with the Board of the La Salle Foundation

Salary Range: Starting salary $85,000-to-105,000-year dependent upon experience. Full-time employee health and retirement benefits are included.

Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, and Enrollment

o To develop public awareness of the mission, activities and achievements of La Salle High School, representing the school in the community and bringing community leaders to the school.

o To foster relationships with potential funders—individuals, corporations, local businesses, organizations and foundations to grow resources for the school and contribution to the Endowment housed by the Foundation.

o To establish and maintain good relations with the local news media and to issue news releases when appropriate.

o Devise and implement a comprehensive marketing and communication plan to guide school publicity, such as press releases, social media content, church bulletin announcements, public service announcements, news and feature stories, etc.

o To assist the Director of Admissions in formulating and implementing an annual recruitment marketing and outreach plan.

o To evaluate and make recommendations regarding the content of all public relations and marketing communications, both print and electronic.

o To publish print and electronic materials designed for various stakeholders, such as a community newsletter, the annual report (for the School and Foundation), and brochures for special projects for both the School and Foundation (endowment, restricted gifts, planned giving, etc.) along with materials to support the student recruitment program.

Donor Stewardship, Resource Development, and Advancement

o With the collaboration of the President, to develop, implement, evaluate and revise an annual Advancement Plan, with measurable goals and timelines, including objectives for both School and Foundation giving inclusive of the annual fund, corporate/foundation grants, planned gifts, and restricted (“wish list”) gifts.

o To acknowledge all donors’ participation in the mission of La Salle High School (via the School and the Foundation) through correspondence, personal visits, calls, campus tours and recognition in the Annual Report.

o To serve as the liaison to any sponsoring groups regarding all fundraising events undertaken by the school, parent/student groups and clubs.

o To implement and annually evaluate an annual giving program for the School supplemented with special Days of Giving and other funding opportunities.

o To provide direction to and assist the Director of Development with fundraising and special events.

o To identify and pursue grant funding opportunities to bring resources to the School community in support of enrollment and school operations.

o To ensure the cultivation and engagement of alumni, inclusive of integration of alumni events into the annual calendar and supporting the work of academic administrators for Career Day or other events that can integrate alumni.

o To ensure proper stewardship of all donations, both to the School and to the Foundation, through the coordination of gift accounting and acknowledgement (for both monetary gifts and donations-in-kind); pledge collection; creation of financial records; and fund reconciliation with the Business Office.

o To identify and screen donors and foundations with potential to provide support to both School and Foundation resource development initiatives.

o Maintain a donor/community database – distinguishing between School and Foundation donors and gifts - with the biographical data and donation records for alumni, alumni parents, current parents, staff, trustees, parent/community volunteers, community leaders and other donors.

o Ensure the preparation of regular reports on donations for reconciliation with Business Office records.

o Coordinate the processing of applications for corporate matching gifts and maintain a log of these gifts.

o Coordinate and ensure execution of the school’s applications for potential and ongoing grant funding.

o Coordinate the preparation of receipts and maintenance of a log and records for donations-in-kind.

o Cooperate and coordinate with the La Salle Foundation to ensure that the highest standards of professionalism and respect are maintained in the sharing and use of donor information to maximize outcomes while avoiding duplication of efforts and any potential for alienation of donors.

Board of Trustees and Foundation Board

o To prepare a regular Advancement Report for the School President and Board of Trustees.

o To prepare a regular Report of Advancement activities focused on Endowment Growth for the Foundation Board.

o To fulfill other responsibilities as delegated by the School President.

Candidate Qualifications and Characteristics

We invite applications from Catholic and independent schools, foundations, successful non-profit organizations, higher education, and other organizations whose mission inspires philanthropic giving. Candidates should meet or exceed the qualifications listed below:

Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Experience in advancement, fundraising, development, or related field Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor cultivation. Compensation and Benefits Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive benefits package. Starting rate is $85,000.00

· Bachelor’s degree from a college or university is required. Advanced degree preferred.

· A minimum of three years of related fundraising experience in a nonprofit environment, with supervisory responsibilities.

· Prior experience in a school or similar environment is desirable for understanding the relationships among advancement, admissions, communications, marketing, and finance functions in a school setting.

· Demonstrated skills in gift cultivation and solicitation, enlisting volunteers and coordinating their efforts and energy towards the attainment initiatives.

· Understanding of planned giving and endowment growth programs.

· Exceptional capability to present information and respond to questions effectively from groups of parents, alumni, faculty and staff, Board members, and the general public.

· Superior communication skills – listening, speaking, and writing.

· Respect for and welcoming attitude toward people of diverse socio-economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.

· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

· Demonstrated ability to design and utilize a moves management process that builds a donor pipeline and moves donors up a giving ladder.

· Strong professional reputation, unfailing integrity, respect for confidentiality, and the ability to inspire others to live up to the same standards.

· Ability to maintain clear, accurate records and prepare accurate, meaningful, and timely reports.

· Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management
