Position Overview
Blueprint Genetics is seeking a motivated, dependable individual to oversee daily management and care of our elite donor and recipient cattle herd. The position plays a critical role in the success of our embryo transfer and IVF programs through excellent animal husbandry, reproductive management and facilities management.
The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, works independently and pays attention to details to maintain high standards of animal care and management.
Primary Responsibilities
Herd Management & Animal Care
• Mix and deliver feed daily for donors and recipients
• Daily animal care, herd health and treatments
• Support Henning Farms cattle care and management, as needed
Reproductive Management
• Set up recipients, heat detection, chute work for implants and pregnancy checks
• Run donors through the chute weekly for DFR or OPU
• Give donors FSH shots
• Strong record keeping of implants, treatments and more
Facilities & Equipment
• Clean, bed and maintain donor and recipient facilities
• Haul manure
• Clean and organize chute areas, barns and office spaces
Qualifications
• Cattle handling experience required
• Artificial insemination experience preferred
• Safely and efficiently operates farm equipment
• Can lift 50 pounds, work in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
• Able to work 8am to 6pm CST, Monday through Friday, and every other weekend
