Job Title: Creative Services Manager

Location: Hybrid (Remote + In-Office in Indianapolis)

Westcomm is looking for a senior-level creative leader to help shape, elevate, and manage the creative work we produce for clients across benefits communications, B2B marketing, and nonprofit marketing.

This role is ideal for a strong designer or art director who can lead high-level creative work while managing, mentoring, and developing a small creative team.

You’ll partner closely with our VP of Operations, account team, writers, designers, and video team to bring a wide range of communications campaigns to life. On the benefit communications side, that may include open enrollment, wellbeing and mental health initiatives, retirement education, preventive care, new employee experience, and other communications that help employees understand and use the programs available to them. On the marketing side, that may include B2B campaigns, nonprofit communications, digital content, sales collateral, presentations, social media, video concepts, and other materials designed to inform, engage, and inspire action.

The right person will know how to turn complex or nuanced information into creative that is clear, strategic, polished, and built for real human understanding. We’re looking for someone who can guide creative direction, strengthen the quality of our work, and help ensure our creative output is both effective and emotionally resonant.

This role is both hands-on (70%) and leadership-focused (30%). We need someone who can jump into complex design work, provide clear creative direction, manage a creative team, collaborate well with across disciplines, and help us continue building a creative function that is efficient, collaborative, and consistently excellent.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead creative direction for employee and communication projects across multiple clients, with a strong focus on Open Enrollment and Total Rewards communications.
  • Create high-level design work for complex, multi-channel campaigns, including benefits guides, presentations, print materials, digital assets, emails, websites, branding systems, and campaign concepts.
  • Manage, mentor, and support a creative team of designers and videographers.
  • Partner with the VP of Operations on creative resourcing, team capacity, workflow improvements, and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide clear, constructive creative feedback that helps improve the work while supporting team growth.
  • Collaborate with writers, account leads, strategists, project managers, designers, and video team members to move projects from concept through final delivery.
  • Review creative work for brand alignment, visual hierarchy, accessibility, consistency, accuracy, and overall quality.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve creative processes, QA standards, file organization, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Keep stakeholders informed with clear, proactive updates, ensuring alignment at every stage
  • Stay current on design trends, employee communication best practices, accessibility considerations, and tools that can improve creative output.

What Makes You a Great Fit

You’re a strong designer and a strong leader.

You can produce polished, strategic creative work yourself, but you also know how to guide others, give helpful feedback, and raise the quality of a team’s work.

You understand the power of clear communication.

You know that benefit communications need to be more than attractive. They need to be understandable, useful, and built for employees who may be overwhelmed, distracted, or unfamiliar with HR language.

You’re comfortable balancing creativity and operations.

You can think conceptually, but you also understand timelines, priorities, resourcing, budgets, and the need for efficient workflows.

You give thoughtful creative direction.

You can explain what’s working, what needs to change, and why. You’re able to help designers grow without taking over every project.

You’re collaborative and calm under pressure.

Open Enrollment season can move quickly. You’re able to keep work moving, support the team, solve problems, and maintain high standards even when priorities shift.

What You Bring to the Role

  • 8+ years of professional design experience, ideally in an agency or internal marketing/communications team environment.
  • Experience managing or mentoring designers, creative team members, freelancers, or video/production partners.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates high-level design thinking, branding, layout, campaign development, and multi-channel creative execution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
  • Experience designing long-form documents, presentations, campaign materials, digital assets, and branded communication systems.
  • Experience designing for websites, landing pages, email, social media, or other digital channels.
  • Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, accessibility, brand consistency, and production-ready file preparation.
  • Ability to interpret strategy, creative briefs, client feedback, and complex source materials.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present creative rationale clearly to internal teams and, when needed, clients.
  • Experience with project management platforms, creative workflows, and review/proofing tools.
  • Familiarity with employee benefits, HR communications, healthcare, or Total Rewards is a strong plus.
  • Experience with video storyboarding, motion graphics direction, or creative direction for video is a plus.
  • BA/BS in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
