Middle School Math

Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy is seeking a full-time teacher for Middle School Math, which sections could include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, or Geometry. An ideal candidate will work to create a classroom environment that challenges and supports each student in his or her pursuit of excellence.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Teach multiple sections of Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and/or Geometry. Sections may also include accelerated versions of these courses as well.
• Uses discernment to effectively integrate educational technology in ways that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with instructional goals and student needs. Effectively manages and utilizes the school’s Learning Management System.
• Plan course materials and methods of instruction
• Create and design lesson plans, instruction, and assessments
• Work closely and effectively with members of the math department to ensure that curriculum flows smoothly
• Communicate with parents proactively, positively and professionally to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of students
• Engage in continued professional development
• Integrate the language of leadership and character development into the classroom
• Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or other relevant subject, advanced degree preferred
• Teaching experience in math preferred
• Creative, enthusiastic and growth-mindset approach to learning
• Experience in the use of educational technology
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Genuine concern for students and their learning success
• Collaborative approach to working with other faculty members
