To support this exciting momentum, we are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and community-driven leader to join our team as Senior Events Director. We don’t just produce races, we create high-energy, community-driven experiences that bring people together through movement and connection.

The Senior Events Director serves as the operational leader overseeing all Racing Systems events, including Run Project branded events and client events. This role provides strategic operational leadership across race production, staffing, logistics, permitting, warehouse operations, and execution systems while leading the Race Director team responsible for individual event execution.

This position is responsible for building scalable operational systems, driving accountability, improving efficiency, and ensuring consistent execution standards across the organization’s event portfolio.

The Senior Events Director serves as the operational bridge between company leadership, Race Directors, municipalities, vendors, and event execution teams.

We are seeking a high-level operational leader who can think strategically, lead teams effectively, solve problems proactively, and maintain execution excellence across a fast-moving multi-event environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesEvent Operations Leadership

  • Provide operational leadership and strategic oversight across all Racing Systems events, including Run Project branded events and client events.
  • Direct execution of event operational timelines, logistics readiness, permitting, and event delivery standards.
  • Lead operational planning and coordination with municipalities, police departments, EMS, fire departments, venues, and operational partners.
  • Guide the Race Director team in course operations, venue planning, traffic management, and race-day execution standards.
  • Partner with the Project Manager to develop, maintain, and improve Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), operational procedures, and risk management protocols.
  • Lead post-event operational reviews to identify performance opportunities, execution improvements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Team Leadership & Accountability
  • Lead, mentor, and oversee the Race Director team while establishing accountability, operational consistency, and execution standards .
  • Foster a culture centered around professionalism, preparedness, communication, problem-solving, and operational excellence.
  • Support leadership development and organizational growth within the event production team.
  • Establish measurable operational KPIs tied to staffing, execution quality, logistics performance, and financial accountability.
  • Financial Management & Operational Growth
  • Lead operational planning with a strong focus on fiscal responsibility, cost management, resource allocation, and scalable organizational growth.
  • Develop and oversee operational budgets while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Evaluate operational investments, vendor partnerships, staffing structures, and logistics strategies to support both current operations and future growth.
  • Drive cost-control initiatives while maintaining high standards for event quality, participant experience, and brand execution.
  • Partner with company leadership on strategic growth initiatives, expansion opportunities, and operational scalability.

Logistics, Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Oversee operational infrastructure, including warehouse systems, fleet readiness, logistics coordination, inventory management, and event deployment strategy.
  • Direct transportation logistics, staging operations, inventory distribution, and operational readiness across the event portfolio.
  • Ensure event assets, equipment, supplies, and operational infrastructure are maintained and deployment-ready.
  • Develop and improve systems for inventory forecasting, procurement tracking, operational audits, and supply management.
  • Lead continuous improvement of operational documentation, SOPs, manuals, workflows, and internal systems to support organizational efficiency and scalability.

Staffing, Workforce Planning & Volunteer Operations

  • Lead staffing strategy and workforce planning for paid staff, contractors, and volunteers.
  • Develop staffing models, coverage standards, contingency plans, and workforce deployment systems.
  • Build and maintain recruiting pipelines to support event staffing needs and organizational growth.
  • Oversee volunteer operations, including recruitment, onboarding, communication, deployment, and event-day coordination.
  • Ensure operational teams are properly staffed, supported, and aligned with execution expectations.
  • Continuously evaluate staffing effectiveness, workforce performance, and operational execution standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with leadership, Race Directors, municipalities, sponsors, vendors, and operational partners to ensure successful event execution.
  • Partner with the Brand Partnerships & Activations team to evaluate operational feasibility, scalability, and execution planning for sponsor activations and event experiences.

Required Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of experience in event operations, logistics, race production, or large-scale live event management.
  • 4–6+ years of leadership experience managing teams, departments, or multi-event operations.
  • Proven experience overseeing multiple events, venues, or operational teams simultaneously.
  • Strong operational leadership skills with the ability to manage timelines, staffing, logistics, and event execution at a high level.
  • Experience developing and managing operational budgets, cost controls, and vendor relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in fast-paced, high-pressure event environments.
  • Experience managing permitting processes and coordinating with municipalities, police, EMS, fire departments, and venue partners.
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build accountability, operational consistency, and execution standards across teams.
  • Experience with staffing strategy, volunteer coordination, and workforce planning.
  • Proficiency with project management, communication, and operational software platforms.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to support on-site operational needs, including occasional physical event setup responsibilities . Preferred

    Qualifications

    • Experience within the endurance sports, road racing, festival, or mass-participation event industry.
    • Experience leading Race Directors, Operations Managers, or cross-functional event production teams.
    • Strong understanding of endurance event logistics, including course operations, participant flow, timing coordination, venue operations, and emergency planning.
    • Experience building scalable operational systems, SOPs, and organizational workflows.
    • Proven ability to improve operational efficiency and support organizational growth initiatives.
    • Experience negotiating vendor contracts and managing large-scale operational partnerships.
    • Familiarity with warehouse operations, fleet management, logistics deployment, and inventory systems.
    • Experience with Asana, Google Workspace, registration platforms, inventory tracking systems, and operational reporting tools.
    • Strong operational awareness with the ability to anticipate problems and make sound decisions quickly under pressure.
    • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance strategic leadership and hands-on execution.
    • Passion for endurance sports, community events, participant experience, and live event production.
    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Event Management, or a related field preferred)

    • First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
