SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Kansas Bankers Association (KBA) is seeking a dynamic individual to help advance the Association’s state and federal public policy objectives. The Vice President Government & Public Relations reports directly to KBA’s Senior Vice President of Government Relations. This position will work daily with the SVP of Government Relations and KBA’s President & CEO. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication and advocacy skills, a strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes, and the ability to cultivate trusted relationships with policymakers, regulators, media, and the banking community. LOCATION

This position will office at the Kansas Bankers Association’s headquarters in Topeka, Kansas located at 610 SW Corporate View. Outside of the state legislative session, this role allows for a hybrid work schedule, subject to approval by KBA President & CEO.

APPLICATION DATE

Screening of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The desired start date is on or before August 17, 2026.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

  • Support KBA’s Government Relations team with developing and implementing strategies to advance KBA’s public policy priorities before Congress, the Kansas Legislature, and state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Track, review, and analyze proposed legislation and regulatory developments that affect the banking industry.
  • Assist with the preparation of position statements, summaries, and testify as needed before the Kansas Legislature.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with member bankers, policymakers, regulators, and industry partners to promote effective advocacy and collaboration.
  • Support developing and executing communication strategies to inform member bankers, legislators, regulators, and the public about key KBA policy issues and initiatives.
  • Assist with drafting press releases, respond to inquiries, and promote KBA’s positions through proactive outreach.
  • Collaborate in the creation and distribution of KBA communications, including the Legislative Bulletin, E-Source, The Kansas Banker Magazine, and other publications.
  • Represent KBA at industry meetings, conferences, and public forums as assigned, within Kansas and out of state.

  • Ability and willingness to travel within the state on a regular basis and occasionally outside of the state.
  • Ability to physically travel by, and safely operate, a motor vehicle for long distances and must be able to lift 50 lbs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Legal and/or legislative advocacy and communications experience (preferred)

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time, salaried position and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Compensation will be commensurate with professional experience and education.
