Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and experienced in-person School Psychologist to join our team on a contract basis. As a School Psychologist, you will provide comprehensive psychological services to students, collaborate with educators and families, and contribute to fostering a healthy learning environment. You will work in a school setting, offering evaluation, consultation, intervention, and prevention services that support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being.

  • Responsibilities: conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to determine students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and school staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Provide counseling and interventions to support students' emotional and mental health needs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address students' academic and behavioral challenges.
  • Offer consultation and training to school personnel on strategies to improve learning environments and student outcomes.
  • Promote positive mental health through prevention programs, crisis intervention, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with state and federal regulations.

      • Must reside within 45 minutes of the school district
      • Certification as a School Psychologist by the Michigan Department of Education
      • Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation
      • Experience with positive behavior support and with universal strategies on how to support students with behavioral concerns
      • Experience in the administration and interpretation of a variety of assessments
      • Knowledge of Special Education Law as outlined within the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE)
      • Proven ability to develop modifications and accommodations for the general education curriculum
      • Experience and training in administering and interpreting psychological evaluations within an educational setting
      • Proven track record of the ability to develop and maintain positive, approachable and acceptable relationships with school staff, parents, building administrators and the community agencies
      • Conducts extensive psychological evaluations of students
      • Increase achievement by assessing barriers to learning and determining the best instructional strategies to improve learning
      • Evaluate eligibility for special education services (within a multidisciplinary team)
      • Support effective individualized instruction
      • Collects data and provides systematic observations for students experiencing challenges in the school setting.
      • Make referrals and participate in the coordination of community support services
      • Member of school support teams
      • Participates as a crisis team member and provides crisis intervention for students and staff in the event that a situation is warranted
      • Stays current on new developments in the field of education
      • All other duties assigned

    Qualifications

    • Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from a NASP-approved/accredited program
    • Valid state license or state department of education certification (as needed) as a School Psychologist. (if applicable)
    • Educator Certificate (if applicable)
    • Prefer experience working as a School Psychologist in a school setting.
    • Prefer knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
    • Strong skills in psychological testing, counseling, and intervention techniques.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Commitment to cultural competence and diversity.
    • Passion for working with children and adolescents in educational settings.
    • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing needs
