Summary

As an Oncology Nurse Coordinator, you will play a key role in guiding patients and their families through every step of their healthcare journey. Using the nursing process, you will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans while proactively anticipating patient needs. Serving as the primary clinical contact, you will provide support, education, and guidance to patients, families, and caregivers, ensuring they feel confident and informed.

In this role, you will coordinate multi-disciplinary and multi-site care, facilitate seamless communication among providers, and organize all necessary education and training for the care team. You will also be responsible for promoting an exceptional patient experience by delivering excellent customer service, managing concerns in a timely manner, and ensuring adherence to treatment plans through ongoing contact between visits. Starting hourly rate is $51.65. The actual compensation offered may vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

License Requirement

License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.

Certification or eligibility for Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience or critical care experience; or

2. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park Nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months as a Nurse I at Roswell Park; or

3. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; or

4. Associate’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time oncology nursing experience or critical care experience; or

5. Associate’s degree in Nursing, the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park Nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months as a Nurse I at Roswell Park; or

6. Associate’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting.

1. Incumbents must obtain and maintain applicable certification, as required by area of specialty and outlined in Departmental procedures, within eighteen (18) months of appointment to this position and as a condition of continued employment.

2. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.

3. Incumbents must complete twelve (12) cancer-related contact hours per calendar year unless certified by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).

4. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
