Position Summary
The Wisconsin Legislative Reference Bureau seeks a graphic designer to produce the Wisconsin Blue Book and maintain the LRB’s print collateral and digital interfaces. The position is a project appointment and can be performed remotely. The ideal candidate will have a high level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The ideal candidate will also be able to handle occasional tight deadlines, implement a production schedule, and work well with a publications team. The anticipated start date for this position is October 1, 2026.
The LRB is strictly nonpartisan. Partisan political activity by the staff is not allowed. Appointments are made on a nonpartisan basis.

Salary Information

Job Details
- In collaboration with authors, editors, and proofreaders, produce and publish the Wisconsin Blue Book. This task will require the graphic designer to also serve as a production artist and project manager.
- In collaboration with authors, editors, and proofreaders, produce and publish a variety of legislative and civics education publications.
- Communicate design specifications for print and digital delivery.
- Assist with designing and updating the LRB’s website.
Qualifications
Well–qualified candidates will have all of the following:
- At least three to five years of professional graphic design experience.
- A portfolio.
- Fluency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with content management systems, such as Umbraco, WordPress, or Joomla.
- Knowledge and experience with prepress and print production techniques.
- Knowledge of typography and page layout principles.
- Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
