Our Entertainment client is seeking a Industrial Designer to join their team for the next 5 months, 40 hours/week. This role is hybrid onsite 3 days a week in Universal City, CA.

Role Summary

The Industrial Designer will serve as a key design subject matter expert supporting publishing and board game categories across multiple entertainment properties and global regions. This role combines strong graphic design expertise with a deep understanding of licensing and consumer products to guide product development from concept through approval and execution. The position involves close collaboration with internal partners and external licensees, requiring excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail while managing multiple projects and timelines.

Top Must Have Skills

Advanced graphic design expertise, including typography, layout, and visual storytelling

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, partners, and deadlines

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

High attention to detail and accuracy throughout the design and approval process

Experience in licensing, preferably within consumer products or entertainment

Additional Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience in licensing and manufacturing

Bachelor degree in design or related field

Experience in the entertainment industry, especially with license based consumer products

Knowledge of product manufacturing processes and materials

Strong portfolio demonstrating 2D graphic design in publishing and or board games

Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite

Experience with InDesign, Keynote, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

Experience with drawings, overlays, or illustration is a plus

Familiarity with digital product approval systems such as Mediabox

Background working with major companies or consumer product brands preferred

Responsibilities

Serve as the design subject matter expert for publishing and board game categories, including execution, materials, fabrication, and 2D design

Develop product design solutions aligned with franchise and property roadmaps

Conceptualize and execute product ideas from initial concept through final delivery

Review and provide feedback on product submissions using internal digital systems

Guide licensees by understanding their design and manufacturing capabilities

Ensure designs align with brand guidelines, property assets, and storytelling objectives

Prepare presentation materials and assets for product reviews and stakeholder meetings

Provide detailed design direction, revisions, and overlays throughout the approval lifecycle

Manage workflow, timelines, and prioritization across multiple projects and regions

Drive innovation by staying current on publishing and board game trends and competitive landscape

Facilitate kickoff meetings and maintain ongoing communication with licensees

Create and distribute meeting recaps and share insights with global teams

Collaborate with category and business partners to support licensor selection and product quality

Maintain accuracy and efficiency in the product approval process, ensuring timely execution

Contribute original design work as needed across assigned projects

In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
