Responsibilities

Strategic Communications

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Conference's marketing, communications, content, branding, social media, website, and digital media operations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the Director of Marketing & Communications and Director of Content, ensuring effective execution of departmental priorities and professional development.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications and marketing strategies that advance the Conference's brand, visibility, and strategic objectives.
  • Serve as the Conference's primary liaison to media outlets, communications professionals, and external stakeholders.

Sport Communications

  • Serve as the primary communications contact for men's basketball and assigned Olympic sports.
  • Oversee all communications, media relations, awards, statistics, records, and storytelling efforts related to men's basketball and assigned Olympic sports.
  • Coordinate media operations and communications efforts for the Conference basketball Championships.
  • Serve as the Conference’s on-site communications and media relations representative at assigned championship events, overseeing media operations, credentialing, and event publicity.
  • Develop strategies to maximize exposure through earned media, digital content, and storytelling initiatives.

Communications & Media Relations

  • Oversee communications strategies for Conference championships, special events, initiatives, and major announcements.
  • Direct the production and distribution of press releases, feature stories, media guides, championship programs, record books, and other communications materials.
  • Coordinate Conference awards programs, postseason honors, and recognition initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.

Website, Statistics & Records:

  • Oversee the management and strategic direction of the Conference website and all digital communication platforms.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely dissemination of Conference statistics, standings, records, archives, and historical information.
  • Manage statistical systems and reporting processes for all Conference sports.
  • Oversee the maintenance and publication of Conference record books, historical archives, and championship records.

Marketing, Branding & Content Strategy:

  • Provide oversight of the Conference's brand identity and ensure consistency across all platforms, communications, championships, and promotional materials.
  • Direct content strategy across social media, video, graphics, photography, and emerging digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with member institutions to develop and execute initiatives that enhance fan engagement and elevate the Conference's visibility.
  • Support sponsorship activation, ticket sales initiatives, and revenue-generating programs through integrated marketing and communications efforts.

Broadcast & Digital Media

  • Collaborate with member institutions, production partners, and broadcasters to ensure the successful promotion and execution of Conference programming.
  • Assist with the development of strategies to enhance digital distribution, audience growth, and fan engagement.

Additional Duties

  • Represent the Conference at NCAA, institutional, and external meetings as assigned.
  • Support Conference strategic planning initiatives and special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Commissioner for External Affairs and Commissioner.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to the Senior Associate Commissioner for External Affairs.

Working Conditions

  • This position is based at the Conference Office.
  • This position requires the ability to travel and work non-traditional hours, weekends, nights and holidays.
  • This position includes required attendance at select Olympic sport championships, the Conference’s Basketball Championships and NCAA-hosted events.
