Job Overview
The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Health Educator I/II in the Disease Surveillance & Control Division. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification in the Disease Surveillance & Control Division for up to four (4) months.
To participate in promoting, maintaining, and improving individual and community health; to assess individual and community needs; plan, implement and evaluate effective health education and promotion programs; provide and communicate health education information.

Minimum Qualifications
HEALTH EDUCATOR I
Education, Training, And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in community health education, public health education, nutrition, communications, psychology, or a closely related field, OR equivalent combination or related education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Nevada Driver license within six (6) months of employment..
HEALTH EDUCATOR II
Education, Training, And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in community health education, public health education, nutrition, communications, psychology, or a closely related field and two (2) years’ experience in community health education, OR equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Valid Nevada driver’s license, or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Certified Health Education Specialist (C.H.E.S.) certification preferred.
