Founded in 1974, Swords to Plowshares is a community-based not-for-profit organization that provides counseling and case management, employment and training, housing, and legal assistance to veterans in the San Francisco Bay Area. We promote and protect the rights of veterans through advocacy, public education, and partnerships with local, state, and national entities. Job Title: Service Assistant - VSSR

Location: Across all Swords to Plowshares Housing Sites

Schedule: Monday through Friday

Reporting Type: In person only

Employment Type: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $26.25 per hour

Summary

Swords to Plowshares seeks a full-time, non-exempt Service Assistant who can provide supportive services and community resource connections to older adults and adults with disabilities in a nurturing and caring manner. This position will work across multiple permanent supportive housing sites in San Francisco.

Responsibilities

· Provide senior and disabled residents with connections to community resources and direct assistance as needed.

· Educating and assisting veterans on skills needed to maintain housing stability.

· Other tasks of daily living as needed

· Ability to connect residents to resources needed to ensure their ability to remain independently housed such as transportation and in-home support services.

· Ability to work with on-site Case Management staff to ensure coordination of care.

· Data entry into an online data tracking system for the agency

Desired Qualifications

· Must pass public record background check

· Bending and lifting as individual situations require

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds without distress

· Ability to navigate stairs

· Must be proficient with internet, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic timekeeping

Employee must be able to perform functions of job within what would be considered reasonable accommodations

Experience

Two (2) years of experience working in residential milieus with seniors and/or adults with disabilities.
