Coach
Crossover
- $100,000 annual W2 salary paid weekly, with health, dental, and vision benefits starting day one
- On-site role at an Alpha K-8 school in Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; Denver, CO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston (Central, South, or The Woodlands), TX; Park City, UT (Salt Lake City region)—relocation assistance available
This is not a teaching position. This is a motivation role.
The most meaningful action you can take for a student who reaches 99% of their goal is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that expectation troubles you, this isn't your role. If it energizes you—because maintaining high standards demonstrates your belief in a student's capacity—continue reading.
Alpha students complete their academic work through AI-driven applications. No classroom lectures. No traditional textbooks. Half of your day is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics like public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. The remaining half involves meeting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot data, and driving each one toward 100% completion of their weekly app objectives. You won't follow a rigid script—workshops provide a framework, but the most effective coaches customize them and create new sessions when needed.
A successful quarter means every student in your cohort completes their weekly app goals, passes the Test2Pass for all life-skills workshops, and 90%+ report that they love you. Falling short on any of these three measures means the role hasn't been fulfilled. In your first year, you'll internalize the system; once you demonstrate the ability to uphold standards, you become eligible for Lead Guide, where you mentor new hires while continuing to work directly with students.
If you prefer traditional classroom instruction, need curriculum delivered ready-made, or view warmth and rigor as incompatible, this role isn't suited to you. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring students through challenges, or performing for young audiences, the final step before receiving an offer is spending a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you more than anything else, submit your application now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 groups on subjects including public speaking, focus, feedback, and other transferable skills—customizing the framework and creating new sessions when you identify a need
- Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions designed to drive every student to 100% completion of their weekly app objectives, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's reward structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each child to overcome resistance
- Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery assessment) for each life skill and coaching students through retakes until they achieve mastery
- Adjusting your approach across a broad age spectrum—from kindergarteners who respond to energy and activity to eighth graders who require candor and accountability
- Serving as the adult who maintains expectations and the adult students choose to confide in; warmth creates the trust that allows you to challenge, and challenging reflects your confidence in their potential
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering traditional whiteboard lessons; academic content is housed in the applications, not delivered by you
- Creating curriculum from the ground up; you activate an established framework through energy and narrative
- Passively monitoring students at computers; motivation in this context is intentional, individualized, and persistent
- Reducing a weekly target to help a student achieve it; when a child falls behind, the solution is supporting the child, not adjusting the standard
- Evaluating homework, facilitating standardized test preparation, or handling parent outreach; Campus Leads manage parent-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks don't exist in this model
