Youth Development Specialist
Crossover
- On-site position at Alpha School's Brownsville, TX campus
- $100,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay. Health benefits start on day one.
- Relocation assistance available for a one-school-year on-campus commitment
You've dedicated years to coaching young people — not instructing them. You understand the distinction: coaching means building connection, issuing challenges, and refusing to accept anything less than a student's full potential. Instruction means delivering material. You've never functioned as a content distribution mechanism.
Alpha operates the most unconventional educational model you're likely to encounter. Students don't occupy rows while listening to lectures. They progress through AI-driven learning platforms at individualized speeds. The AI manages instructional delivery. Your responsibility is facilitating life skills workshops that command the attention of K-8 students, conducting motivation sessions that drive them toward their weekly learning targets, and maintaining standards when a student attempts to take the easy path. Academic progress handles itself. You address the human dimension.
This position offers a ceiling worth pursuing, and that ceiling is expanded student impact. Educators who reliably achieve their metrics (100% cohort attainment of weekly app targets, satisfaction scores above 90%) advance into Lead Guide positions where they train other educators to execute this work more effectively. Students remain the priority.
The campus sits in Brownsville, adjacent to SpaceX's Starbase facility. If your motivation for leaving your current position centers on the mission — transforming what a child believes about their capabilities — rather than enhancing your resume, submit your application.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students addressing topics including public speaking, focus, and feedback exchange
- Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify students have authentically acquired the skill, not merely attended the session
- Conducting daily motivation sessions that leverage student profiles, individual interests, and Coachbot analytics to achieve 100% cohort completion of weekly app progression goals
- Employing storytelling, incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and personal rapport to overcome student resistance
- Monitoring cohort satisfaction scores to maintain a 90%+ benchmark on student surveys
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Presenting lectures at a whiteboard. Students progress academically via self-directed AI-powered applications, not through your direct instruction.
- Supervising idle screen time. The context is students using computers; the work is active engagement.
- Compromising standards when students resist. Test2Pass requirements remain constant, even when a student faces a difficult week.
- Creating curriculum independently. Lesson frameworks and workshop protocols are supplied; your responsibility is executing them with the presence and narrative skill that ensures genuine student comprehension.
- Coordinating with parents, handling admissions processes, or directing campus operations. Those functions belong to separate roles.
