Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Distribution, Heavy-Duty Transportation Products, Central CA

An established manufacturer of heavy-duty transportation equipment and one of North America’s most respected companies has an immediate need for a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Distribution.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the design, development, and optimization of vehicle electrical power and signal distribution systems. The position is responsible for creating robust, manufacturable architectures including wiring harnesses, connectors, and low/high-voltage systems while ensuring performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance. This individual will play a key role across the full product lifecycle, supporting design, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.

Located in one of the country’s oldest wine regions and home to several renowned wineries. The area has a Mediterranean climate with dry summers and mild to cool winters.

Key Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics
• Hands-on experience designing vehicle electrical power distribution systems, including wiring harnesses, connectors, and fusing
• Background in automotive or heavy-duty vehicle electrical systems within an OEM or Tier 1 environment
• Related industries considered: appliances, HVAC, commercial equipment, elevators, data centers
• Strong troubleshooting and validation experience using CAN-based networks and diagnostic tools
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC principles, including grounding, shielding, and signal integrity
• Experience with tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
• Experience with ECAD tools and harness design (Zuken, Capital, AutoCAD Electrical)
• Understanding of electrical load analysis, power management, and system optimization
• Experience with DFM/DFS and value engineering
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
