GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director of Commercial Strategy (North America) is a key stakeholder aligning local market dynamics with global objectives. This role manages and executes market-specific strategies to drive growth, enhance competitive positioning, and ensure operational excellence across EssilorLuxottica. It collaborates cross-functionally across North American business units to ensure market value and consistency in channel guidelines. The role demands a forward-thinking, data-driven individual, capable of influencing at all levels and driving transformation in a complex, matrixed organization.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Portfolio & Channel Strategy: Partner with commercial and product teams to execute portfolio and channel strategies, helping optimize assortment by customer segment and supporting go-to-market timing plans.
  • Advise on Distribution, Pricing & Commercial Policy Execution: Provide input and recommendations on localized pricing, promotional, and discount strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate frameworks while supporting competitiveness and margin objectives. Contribute to commercial policy execution and contract discussions as needed.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with global corporate functions and local market teams to support the development and refinement of enterprise guidelines, ensuring alignment with market realities and executional feasibility.
  • Support Local Execution Excellence: Drive implementation of corporate guidelines across local functions, monitoring adherence and identifying opportunities to strengthen consistency, accountability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Champion Regional Market: Partner in the collection and synthesis of market insights to inform decision-making, ensuring regional dynamics and consumer behaviors are clearly represented and communicated to global stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Competitive Strategy: Conduct analysis of the competitive landscape and business performance to identify opportunities and insights that inform strategic direction and support sustainable growth.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field required
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial strategy, business development, or general management roles, preferably within the consumer goods, retail, or healthcare sectors.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives in a matrixed, multinational environment.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing go-to-market strategies, pricing models, and commercial frameworks.
  • Strong experience in channel management, including retail, wholesale, and e-commerce.
  • Deep understanding of market dynamics in North America, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of engaging executive leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or advanced degree in business administration, finance, or commercial strategy
  • Experience working with large, multinational corporations with a global presence and diverse portfolio of products and services

Pay Range: 171,027.00 - 244,254.60

This posting is for an existing vacancy within our business. Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
