The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for preparing, packaging, processing, and receiving materials while ensuring accurate documentation, inventory transactions, and timely movement of products. This role coordinates daily shipping and receiving activities, maintains records, and works closely with internal departments and transportation providers to support operational objectives.
In addition to shipping and receiving responsibilities, this position supports broader logistics activities including inventory management, warehouse operations, cycle counts, physical inventory activities, and material handling functions as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, package, receive, and process materials in accordance with company, customer, and carrier requirements
- Generate shipping documentation, freight bills, customs paperwork, receiving records, and other required transaction documentation
- Coordinate shipments and deliveries with carriers and transportation providers to ensure timely movement of materials
- Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions within JD Edwards (JDE), Precision, and other business systems as required
- Verify shipment and receipt accuracy, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, documentation, and inventory transactions
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe shipping, receiving, warehouse, and work areas
- Support inventory management activities including stocking, cycle counts, inventory audits, and physical inventory activities
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Assist with material movement throughout the facility to support production and operational requirements
- Help maintain facility security by following established access and shipping procedures
- Support continuous improvement efforts within shipping, receiving, and logistics operations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous shipping and/or receiving experience within a manufacturing environment required
- Experience with shipping documentation, freight processing, customs paperwork, receiving activities, and carrier coordination preferred
- Experience utilizing ERP systems; JD Edwards (JDE) experience preferred
- Experience utilizing carrier shipping software preferred
- Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, or cleanroom environment preferred
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required
- Current forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- Work is performed in a manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping/receiving environment
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, and material handling
- Frequent use of computers, shipping systems, receiving systems, and packaging equipment
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, grasping, and repetitive hand movements
- Visual acuity required to inspect products, prepare documentation, and operate equipment safely
