POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the maintenance and repair operations of the plant facilities and system installation and/or rearrangement of manufacturing equipment and ensuring production equipment is working to achieve optimal operational efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct and coordinate the plant maintenance department duties in regards to repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance of the plant facility and perform and/or train the job duties performed by maintenance/electrician technicians.
  • Assist in evaluation of new systems and equipment. Insure that all systems are in safe operating condition and in compliance with all company, local, state and federal laws and to keep abreast of any changes in these standards.
  • Assure that maintenance functions and construction projects meet required local, state and federal codes and requirements.
  • Review production schedules and maintenance orders to make decisions concerning meeting inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
  • Review operations and confer with maintenance or management staff to resolve production problems.
  • Develop and implement maintenance tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports, to detect production and/or maintenance problems.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and discharge staff, and resolve personnel grievances.
  • Prepare and maintain maintenance reports and records.
  • Coordinate and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the industrial maintenance field, relying on current literature pertaining to materials use, technological advances, and statistical studies.
  • Develop budgets and approve expenditures for supplies, materials, and personnel, ensuring that materials, labor and equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
  • Send defective units to the manufacturer or to a specialized repair shop for repair. Negotiate materials prices with suppliers and/or cost with outside contractors on work orders as designated by the Operations Manager.
  • Enforce the safe work environment policies by maintaining equipment properly, enforcement of safety/health regulation, and conducting daily safety audits on equipment and employees.
  • Collaborate with managers of plant teams including but not limited to safety, food safety and retention.
  • Providing information for managerial decision making; and performing other responsibilities as the need arises.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 5 plus years of maintenance supervisor experience or project management required.
  • Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills; ability to direct the workforce with clear and precise directions.
  • Extensive working knowledge of all electrical and mechanical systems in an industrial environment including but not limited to the following:
    • High Voltage Systems Maintenance including Electrode Regulation
    • Industrial Maintenance including general Mechanical, Hydraulic, and AC/DC Drives or VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives)
    • Knowledge with PLC Programming and Troubleshooting: Rockwell Automation, RS Logix 5000, Control/Logix, Logix Control, PLC-5, SLC, SCADA, Allen Bradley, Delta V, Siemens S-5, Siemens S-7
  • Experience operating mill, lathe, drill press, grinder, welding and other related pieces of equipment to fabricate and repair parts.
  • Working experience with pumps, welding, bearings, electrical safety, forklifts, gears, hydraulics, valves, rigging, ladders and scaffolding.
  • Knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out requirements, OSHA compliance, 5S, ISO and EHS regulations.
  • Supervisory: Responsible for supervising a group of maintenance personnel.
