Systems Analyst - Intermediate

UPMC is looking for a Systems Analyst Intermediate to join their team. This position will be Hybrid, mostly remote with occasional on-site visits to Quantum and or Hospitals for Go Lives/Support as needed. Looking for candidates with experience in Radiology PACS systems/Healthcare IT/Imaging application support.

A Systems Analyst Intermediate provides advanced application support within Radiology IT systems, serving as a key technical resource for troubleshooting and optimization. This role mentors junior staff, leads defined projects, and plays an active role in supporting and resolving major incidents. The analyst demonstrates increasing autonomy, deeper technical expertise, and sound decision-making skills while working effectively under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Second and Third Level Support (Including Maintenance Activities): Independently triage and resolve level 1 and level 2 support issues. Escalate level 3 support issues accordingly. Participate in an on call rotation to support after hours for operational needs; frequency varies based on team size, with flexibility required for Go-Live and operational support. Within the first six months, develops sufficient knowledge to independently support on call responsibilities. Understands that go live and operational support may require extended hours and flexibility
  • Project Management: Create and contribute to project tasks and milestones. Update all project management and time tracking tools accordingly. Ability to take full ownership of a project.
  • Data Confidentiality/Quality/Security: Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times.
  • Vendor Relationships: Interact with vendors (technical issues, project initiatives) under the direction of more experienced team members as necessary. Assist with issue escalation where applicable.
  • End User Training: Facilitate high-level user training sessions independently.
  • Communication: Strong listening skills with the ability to accurately understand issues and communicate solutions clearly and effectively
  • Self-Development: Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning through self-study, training, and collaboration with senior team members. Actively seeks opportunities to expand knowledge and stay current with industry and organizational trends. Incorporates feedback effectively to support ongoing development. Builds foundational expertise in PACS, DICOM, HL7, and Radiology workflows, and shows readiness toward higher-level analyst responsibilities over time. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Typically has 2+ years’ experience with Radiology IT and application support through education or practical experience.
  • Understands HL7 message flow, DICOM routing, and integration points
  • Understanding of downstream and upstream system dependencies
  • Highly driven and self-motivated to meet expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of information technology fundamental tools and concepts (SDLC) of one of the information technology professional disciplines and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a UPMC department or function.
