Quality Engineer Manufacturing
1X
About 1X
We’re building humanoid robots that work in home - doing the chores, handling the tasks, and giving people their time back. Simple, but it’s not.
To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing - at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you’re inspired by this, you’ll thrive here. We’ve been at this since 2014 and we’re at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us.
NEO is our flagship - a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We’re not demoing it - we’re shipping it. We’re excited to meet you, if this excites you.
If you’ve spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time - safely creating abundance for all.
About The Team
The Quality team is responsible for building the systems, processes, and validation frameworks that ensure our robots can scale reliably into production. The team works closely with Manufacturing, Test, Firmware, and Design Engineering to improve product quality, reduce failure modes, and strengthen production readiness across the full robot stack.
Your Charter
As a Quality Engineer, Manufacturing, you will develop and improve manufacturing quality systems for humanoid robotic hardware — from subassemblies and PCBA validation through full-system end-of-line testing. This role is highly cross-functional and deeply technical, sitting at the intersection of hardware engineering, manufacturing operations, and product reliability.
Key Outcomes
- Develop and implement manufacturing quality strategies that improve system reliability, production readiness, and test coverage
- Lead PFMEA and failure analysis activities that reduce manufacturing escapes and improve process robustness
- Analyze production and test station data to identify yield loss drivers, recurring failures, and opportunities for corrective action
- Partner with Test, Firmware, and Design Engineering teams to integrate scalable quality checks into manufacturing workflows
- Drive DOE and validation activities that improve test accuracy, pass/fail thresholds, and production consistency across manufacturing sites
Key Competencies
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality systems for electromechanical hardware products
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret production data and identify actionable trends
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field
- 3+ years of experience supporting electromechanical hardware testing or manufacturing quality environments
- Experience with PFMEA, Gage R&R, DOE, and statistical analysis methodologies
- Familiarity with PCBA testing, sensor validation, actuator testing, calibration workflows, or end-of-line manufacturing test systems
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with scalable manufacturing test systems across multiple production sites
- Exposure to startup or fast-paced hardware development environments
- Strong technical documentation and process development capability
