Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Corporate Credit Research Analyst/Portfolio Manager role based in Richmond, VA. The professional in this role will conduct fundamental credit research on corporate issuers, including analysis of financial statements, capital structures, industry trends, and relative value across the credit spectrum. Daily responsibilities include building and maintaining financial models, monitoring credit spreads and market developments, preparing written recommendations, and presenting investment views to the investment committee. The role involves contributing to portfolio construction and ongoing risk monitoring, including position sizing, sector allocations, and compliance with client guidelines. The Corporate Credit Research Analyst/Portfolio Manager will collaborate closely with other portfolio managers and analysts, support client communication materials, and help refine internal research and investment processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify key drivers of credit risk, and form independent, well-supported investment opinions.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques, including cash flow forecasting, scenario analysis, and capital structure modeling for corporate issuers.
  • Experience with investments and portfolio construction, preferably within fixed income or corporate credit, with an understanding of risk/return trade-offs and relative value.
  • Solid grounding in finance and asset management, including knowledge of bond markets, credit instruments, and institutional portfolio management practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree or progress toward CFA designation is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear research reports and present recommendations to internal stakeholders and, when needed, to clients.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a research-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with Excel and financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, or similar); familiarity with risk and performance analytics tools is beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented setting while taking ownership of assigned coverage and responsibilities.
