ADMINISTRATOR III
Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,955 - $6,442/month; $59,460 - $77,304/year
Full Salary Range: $4,955 - $7,927/month; $59,460 - $95,124/year

Description Of Job
About the Work Unit
This unit supports all of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in various ways: Investigations, Forensic Services and Support Services by maintaining Information Technology (IT) hardware, software and licensing. Provides the CBI with a 99% uptime on its critical systems. Provides world class customer service to all stakeholders. Innovating outdated processes and procedures. Acts as a point of contact with all vendors. Takes the lead in all software and system upgrades and integrations.
Work Environment
- Typical work hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
- Primary work will be out of an office. Majority in-person position.
About The Job
The purpose of this position is to provide data reports and analysis, training, software, and hardware helpdesk support, and vendor management duties.
Key Responsibilities
Statistical Reports
- Utilize the knowledge of criminal justice systems (CCIC, MBIS, etc.) to locate the relevant statistical data to inform decisions on legislative requests, business-level decisions within the CBI, CBI Annual Report, and other publications.
- Creates and maintains new and existing management reports through software platforms.
System Hardware and Software Support for CBI, Vendor Management
- Troubleshoots VPN setups and assists CBI staff with interfaces.
- Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure their needs are being met.
- Identifies solutions for IT needs within the CBI and makes recommendations to management.
- Primary contact for any software or hardware-related issues prior to contacting OIT.
- Monitors large systems, software, and equipment replacement plans across the CBI.
- Assists with troubleshooting errors within software platforms.
- All of the CBI systems affect every law enforcement agency in Colorado, as well as regulatory agencies. The implementation, day-to-day management, and future improvement projects of these systems are all essential to the overall operation of the CBI. All of these systems share information and must be fully operational to ensure public and officer safety for the citizens of the State of Colorado.
- Prepares and submits change requests to vendors as required by projects for applications.
- Ensures system/application issues are corrected and operational as quickly as possible with the least impact on users.
- Reports any system issues and initiates initial troubleshooting measures.
- Makes recommendations for solutions involving the various applications and projects.
- Prepares, develops, and implements interface testing and protocols for internal and external systems to CBI.
- Documents processes and procedures for testing and maintenance.
- Collaborates with vendors to troubleshoot and identify the source of issues.
- Advises and assists with IT purchases.
- Collaborates with OIT on major IT projects and updates.
- Works with stakeholders before, during, and after system launches to ensure we meet their needs as effectively as possible.
Training and other duties as assigned
Conducts external and internal stakeholder training in person and virtually as needed. Travels statewide, building and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Builds accessible training materials and utilizes adult learning best management practices in conducting learning sessions. As needed, and with the approval of an Assistant Director, assists CBI staff with the setup of reimaged computers.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications
Six (6) years of professional experience supporting information technology systems, including systems administration, technical support, hardware/software troubleshooting, server or network support, or IT systems maintenance.
OR
A combination of related education and/or professional experience supporting information technology systems, including systems administration, technical support, hardware/software troubleshooting, server or network support, or IT systems maintenance equal to six (6) years. If education is substituted for work experience, an unofficial transcript of the relevant education must be provided with your application.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) and their vendors.
- Experience providing IT support and/or business.
- Experience using criminal justice systems or public safety systems such as CCIC, NCIC, MBIS or CJIS regulated environments.
- Experience with the MORPHO Mobile ID.
- Excellent vendor relation skills.
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to switch between project tasks effectively.
Conditions of Employment
- Must be a Colorado resident at time of application
- Requires successful completion of a background investigation that includes a polygraph exam, a fingerprint based criminal history search and drug testing.
- A valid current driver's license is required. Intermittent use of a state vehicle to travel for trainings may be required up to 4-6 times a year.
- On-call will be required on a scheduled basis to provide after-hours support to CCIC.
