ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE - GENERAL
ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE - P.O.S.T. ACADEMY
Faculty job responsibilities include the assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.
Faculty assignments may include morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend hours. Dual enrollment, distance education, on-line or hybrid with required distance education certification assignments are voluntary. For faculty who are interested in teaching online or hybrid courses, completion of El Camino College's distance education certification process is required or submission of a waiver with evidence of prior certification to develop and teach quality online courses.
Faculty may participate in initiatives set forth by the College that support students to achieve their educational goals through collaborations with employers, advisory committees, industry/trade groups, universities, high schools, or other partnerships with related instructional disciplines.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline; OR
Associate's degree and six (6) years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline; OR
The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement, must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR
Valid California community college credential in appropriate subject (per California Education Code 87355 issued prior to July 1, 1990); AND
Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.
Desired Qualifications
Experience as a sworn law enforcement officer for more than ten (10) years of experience.
Community College Teaching Experience.
Demonstrated ability to cultivate partnership with related program industry members and advisory committees.
Demonstrate ability to develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods.
Ability to engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles.
Ability to promote the use of instructional technology in curriculum delivery.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment as a member of and instructional team.
Ability to utilize technology in and outside of the classroom, including online/hybird teaching experience.
Completion of California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) A.I.C.C. and 1070 Specialized Training.
Licenses Or Other Requirements
Valid California Driver's license

Salary
Part-time faculty are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is, $110.17 - $146.27 (lecture), $83.51 - $110.84 (lab), (based on PT salary schedule fall/spring) per hour depending on education and experience.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a part-time, temporary position for the fall 2026, beginning August 24, 2026. Assignments may include off-site locations. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), and transcripts. Candidates selected for employment must agree to be fingerprinted, submit a Certificate of Completion of the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and/or Examination, provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States, and present a valid Social Security Card upon hire.
