Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.

Job Summary

Part-Time Faculty members in the Department of Health and Human Performance are responsible for providing high-quality instruction in undergraduate courses within the Health and Human Performance curriculum and related disciplines, consistent with their academic preparation and professional expertise. Faculty may be assigned face-to-face, hybrid, online, laboratory, field-based, or internship-related courses based on departmental needs.

Part-Time Faculty are expected to support student learning through effective teaching practices, timely assessment of student performance, and regular communication with students. Faculty are responsible for maintaining course records, submitting grades and required documentation in accordance with university policies, and collaborating with the Department Chair to ensure course quality and student success.

Teaching assignments are made on a semester-by-semester basis and are contingent upon program needs, enrollment, and funding. Part-Time Faculty are not typically assigned committee, scholarship, research, advising, or administrative responsibilities unless specifically contracted to do so.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Teach assigned undergraduate courses in Health and Human Performance and related disciplines.
  • Develop and deliver course content in accordance with approved course syllabi, learning outcomes, and departmental standards.
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies and appropriate assessment methods to promote student learning and engagement.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on assignments, examinations, projects, and other learning activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
  • Submit final grades and other required academic documentation by established university deadlines.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Hold office hours or maintain availability for student consultation as required by departmental policy.
  • Utilize university-supported instructional technologies and learning management systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge and professional competence within the discipline.
  • Support departmental assessment, accreditation, and reporting activities as requested.
  • Comply with all Albany State University and University System of Georgia policies and procedures.
  • Perform other instructional duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned master's degree from an accredited institution in Health and Human Performance, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Education, Sports Management, Athletic Training, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the teaching area.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with students from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and learning management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree in Health and Human Performance, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Education, Sports Management, Athletic Training, or a closely related field.
  • Previous teaching experience in higher education.
  • Experience teaching online and/or hybrid courses.
  • Experience with assessment, accreditation, or curriculum development in higher education.

Proposed Salary

Salary is at a per course rate.
