Community Engagement Coordinator

Role Description: Full-time, Exempt. Reports to the Director of Development. This role will support operations, events management, and key communication and engagement efforts for our development team. This role blends creativity and strategy, and will engage donors, community groups, and current and potential clients to support growth of our programming supporting women and families across the state. A strong candidate has 1-3 years of experience in the field, is highly detail-oriented, and mission-driven. This role will start primarily in person and has potential for some remote work over time.
Fundraising Event Coordination (40%): Supports end-to-end planning and execution of fundraising events that inspire community support and donor engagement. Responsibilities to include: coordinating logistics, supporting staff and volunteer efforts, vendor management, post-event activities, etc.
Community Engagement & Partnerships (20%): Serve as primary contact and presence for the center at key community events, support relationship building for donor cultivation and program promotion. Collaborate to identify new places where relationships and outreach can support stronger programs and greater community engagement.
External Communications (20%): Craft messaging and create content to support a portfolio of cohesive communications and marketing strategies. To include support for internal and external communications, social media, and support development of impact storytelling for the organization.
Supporting Maintenance of Data Systems (10%): Provides support for maintaining and improving data tooling and systems to support development function. May include data entry, record updates, reporting, and routine database maintenance to ensure timely and accurate information management.
Volunteer Coordination (5%): Coordinate volunteer recruitment and engagement opportunities for events, programs, etc.
Other duties (5%) as assigned - special projects related to development and marketing/ communications.
Required Qualifications and Experience
● Experience working within a nonprofit or business development function with an understanding of donor cultivation, stewardship, moves management, and the relationship-building strategies that support long-term engagement and fundraising success.
● Strong project management skills with the ability to operate with a moderate level of autonomy. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage events and community engagement activities. Ability to operate with excellent organizational skill, detail-oriented, with strong writing, storytelling, and interpersonal communication skills.
● Experience working with data in a development function, exposure to using tooling to support relationship-building and impact storytelling, including some experience with tools like a CRM, data reporting, etc.
● Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally (Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti areas primarily) for events, meetings, and outreach. Availability for occasional evening and weekend events.
- 2-4 years of experience in community engagement, fundraising, or event planning/project management.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, etc.
