Position Summary
The Vice President of Operations & Workforce Enablement is responsible for leading enterprise operational planning, labor optimization, field execution strategy, and workforce deployment models across the field organization. This role drives operational efficiency, labor utilization, service execution, and scalable planning processes that support customer delivery and business performance.
This role will partner closely with Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Technology, Sales, and field leadership teams to develop labor strategies, operational forecasting models, workforce deployment standards, startup readiness plans, and performance analytics that improve execution, profitability, and customer outcomes across a multi-site field operation.
This role serves as a strategic operational leader responsible for aligning labor capacity, scheduling strategy, field productivity, operational scalability, and workforce deployment with business demand and organizational priorities while maintaining strong cross-functional partnership on workforce availability, operational readiness, compliance considerations, and organizational effectiveness.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operations Planning & Labor Strategy
- Lead field operations planning and labor optimization strategies.
- Develop scalable labor models, staffing strategies, and workforce deployment plans aligned with operational demand and customer requirements.
- Partner with Operations, Finance, and HR leadership on labor forecasting, workforce capacity planning, budgeting, and productivity initiatives.
- Drive operational planning processes that improve labor utilization, workforce efficiency, and service execution consistency.
- Evaluate operational trends and workforce capacity needs to support business growth and service delivery objectives.
- Provide operational labor insights and workforce trend analysis to support strategic decision-making and organizational planning efforts.
Labor Operations & Field Execution
- Optimize labor deployment, technician scheduling, route efficiency, and operational coverage models.
- Establish operational standards and labor governance processes that improve accountability, productivity, and execution quality.
- Lead initiatives focused on reducing overtime, travel inefficiencies, idle time, and operational waste.
- Implement operational controls and protocols to ensure data integrity, billing accuracy, and service compliance.
- Support field leadership teams with labor insights, operational recommendations, and workforce allocation strategies.
- Partner with HR and Operations leadership to identify workforce-related operational risks, staffing gaps, and labor sustainability concerns.
Account Startup & Transition Planning
- Partner with Operations, Sales, HR, and field leadership teams to support operational readiness for new account startups, expansions, customer transitions, and account offboarding activities.
- Develop labor deployment, staffing, scheduling, and operational support plans to ensure successful service launches and operational continuity.
- Support workforce ramp-up and redeployment strategies tied to business growth, customer transitions, and operational changes.
- Monitor labor capacity and operational readiness during startup and transition periods to minimize disruption and stabilize field execution.
- Lead operational planning efforts associated with account losses, workforce redeployment, labor cost management, and operational risk mitigation.
- Establish scalable startup and transition planning processes that improve execution consistency and operational preparedness across the organization.
Systems, Technology & Operational Enablement
- Lead the strategy, implementation, and optimization of workforce management and field service management systems.
- Partner with Technology and Operations teams to enhance scheduling platforms, dispatch systems, reporting tools, and mobile workforce technologies.
- Ensure operational systems support scalable field execution, operational visibility, and data-driven decision-making.
- Evaluate technology solutions and automation opportunities that improve operational efficiency and labor productivity.
Analytics, Reporting & Performance Management
- Develop enterprise operational KPIs, labor analytics dashboards, and workforce reporting frameworks.
- Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics including labor utilization, overtime, productivity, SLA compliance, turnover trends, startup readiness, and operational efficiency indicators.
- Translate operational data into actionable business insights and strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
- Present operational performance reviews and workforce planning insights to senior leadership teams.
- Partner with HR leadership to evaluate workforce trends that may impact retention, staffing stability, operational readiness, or organizational effectiveness.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Lead and develop operational planning, labor operations, and workforce analytics teams.
- Partner closely with Operations, Finance, HR, Safety, Technology, and Sales leaders to drive organizational alignment and operational execution.
- Build organizational capability around labor planning, operational forecasting, workforce optimization, startup execution, and field operations best practices.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on operational planning, labor strategy, workforce deployment, and operational scalability initiatives.
- Collaborate with HR leadership to support workforce sustainability, organizational scalability, and operational workforce planning initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Partner with HR and Safety teams to mitigate workforce-related operational risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor operational risks related to labor allocation, workforce availability, startup execution, account transitions, and service delivery performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations planning, labor operations, workforce optimization, account mobilization, or large-scale field operations leadership.
- Experience leading labor planning and operational execution initiatives within a multi-site, field service, facilities services, logistics, or operationally complex environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of workforce management systems, labor forecasting models, operational analytics, and scheduling platforms.
- Experience with enterprise systems such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, ClickSoftware, UKG/Kronos, or similar operational technologies preferred.
- Demonstrated success leveraging operational data and analytics to improve workforce productivity, startup execution, and business performance.
- Proven leadership capability in developing high-performing operational and analytical teams.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence cross-functional leaders and drive operational alignment.
