A Brief Overview

Plan, analyze, design, test, implement and maintain laboratory Beaker applications. Researches and corrects system and user problems. Works with various primary care clinics, specialty departments, ancillary department or inpatient units to support practice and implement changes as needed to the existing systems.

    • Actively and accurately maintain issue lists, build an testing documentation and coordination of team tasks as outlined by department policies and CAP regulations.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers through effective and consistent communication. Reaches out to operational leadership to ensure that their information technology needs are met.
    • Develop, analyze, design, configure, test and maintain the laboratory's applications through collaboration with members of care teams, operational leaders, technical team members and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Research, analyze, troubleshoot and correct system components in a timely manner. Translate workflow requirements into efficient and effective application solutions that align with the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Takes initiative to lead and coordinate projects across laboratory applications as a subject matter expert by defining requirements for changing new & existing systems in alignment with department and organization priorities. Works with teams to define process flows & make recommendations for the most efficient utilization of applications.
  • Maintain, analyze, and optimize tools to meet and ensure the organizations quality assurance goals. Takes initiative and leads initiatives to ensure system reliability and maintain system integrity
  • Participates in on-call and monthly maintenance activities
  • Work after hours and on weekends as needed is an expectation of the job.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, medical profession (Medical Laboratory Scientist), or related field, experience may be substituted for education Required and
  • Graduate of the emerging leaders program or leadership certification from a national organization Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 4-6 years experience in EPIC Beaker, laboratory field, Data Innovation rule build, EPIC Beaker Clinical Pathology Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong technical knowledge of Information Technology, focusing on laboratory application development and support.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of graphics software, networks, hardware and operating systems
  • Skill in use of MS Office applications.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to act as a leader within the team, coordinating multiple projects at once and collaborating activities within the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a coaching mentor to application analysts to help develop analysis framework and knowledge of information processes using industry standard techniques
  • Ability to be self-directed, with minimum supervision, and strong attention to detail required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Incumbents with a professional license must possess and maintain a current/valid license in the state of Nebraska or compact state license (i.e. ASCP, RN, RT, MA etc.) Preferred and
  • Job related accreditation(s)/certification(s)in Epic Beaker Clinical Pathology Required and
  • Certification in Data Innovations Required and
